Dear Draženka and crew of the Orka,
we had a great day trip on the Orka on the 22nd of July! After being picked up at the Old City Gate, we set sail a little after 9 o'clock. While heading for open sea, assorted pastries, candied almonds and orange peel (delicious!) and – which took some getting used to – homemade liqueurs were served. After about an hour, we had reached open sea and the net was cast, the time waiting for it being ready to be hauled in was spent with some delicious bread, cheese, ham, marinaded fish and octopus. A special experience was when the net was hauled in again – those who wanted could help to sort the caught fish. A visit to the island of Šipan followed, completed with a visit at a local farm and the chance to try out some local, homemade wine and olive oil. There was also plenty of time to take a dip into the sea, while the barbecue was being set up on the boat. The caught fish, scampi and octopus were grilled, alongside with various vegetables, and the resulting meal was exquisite. On the way back, the island Lopud offered another chance for a swim, before the day was rounded off with a piece of homemade chocolate-orange-cake during the final stretch of our trip. Very full and fully content we left the boat in the port of Gruz at 6:30 PM.
Aside from being able to experience fishing first-hand, the pleasant atmosphere and friendly demeanor of the entire crew were the highlights of an unforgettable day, as was the excellent catering throughout the day. We were especially happy about how roomy it was on the Orka when compared with some of the other boats that we met during our trip, upon people were often squeezed together beyond the point of comfort.
Thank you very much for an unforgettable experience.
